ITALY NORTH CENTER S O U T H

ITALY The name of Italy comes from the mythological character of Italo, who lived before the Trojan war. Italy is a Parliamentary Republic, based on the Constitution, a corpus of laws containing rights and duties of the citizens. The President of the Republic is the authority representative of the entire country. The official language is Italian, but one of the characteristics of the Italian peninsula is the presence of several different dialects and regional linguistic varieties. Italy is one of the founding members of the European Union.

GEOGRAPHY The Italian geographical region is linked to the continental Europe by the chain of the Alps. This chain of mountains stretches across the Northen side of the country, from Liguria to Friuli Venezia Giulia, whereas the Apennines stretch across the entire peninsula, from North to South. The largest islands are Sicily and Sardinia.

WEATHER From a climatic point of view the country is also favored by the huge amount of water of the Mediterranean Sea that surrounds it from almost every side. For this reason temperatures are mild, even if there are notable differences between the North and South of the country. The climatic differences present in our country are determined by the different geological formation, in fact the lower average temperatures are recorded in Northern Italy, because it is made ​​up of plains and mountain areas far from the open sea.

RELIGION The most widespread religion in Italy is the Roman Catholicism and the State of the Vatican is the seat of the Holy Father. Nevertheless other religious minorities such as Protestantism, Hinduism and Hebraism are present.

ECONOMY Italy is also a country heavily oriented to foreign trade. Italian industry is dominated by small and medium-sized enterprises mostly manufacturing, whereas only a few large firms are present.

ITALIAN FASHION Italy is also Fashion. The country is considered the capital of the fashion in the world and fashion has always been an important part of our culture. Italian fashion originated in Florence in the 1950s, and from then the elegance of the made in Italy widespread all over the world. Today the most famous fashion cities in Italy are Florence, Milan and Rome. Twice a year in Milan, the Fashion Week is held. The area dedicated to the Milanese Fashion is the famous “Fashion Quadrilateral”. The most important houses of fashion were founded in Rome and are still there. In the city, “Via Condotti” is famous for its luxurious boutiques such as “Prada” and “Versace”. “Vogue Italia” is considered the most prestigiuos Fashion magazine in the world. Renowned Italian brands are “Armani”, “Alviero Martini”, “Valentino”, “Dolce & Gabbana”, “Roberto Cavalli”, “Gucci” or “Moschino”.

ROME According to the legend, Rome was founded on 21 April 753 BC. Its founder was Romolus, the son the God Mars and a noblewoman. Legend wants that he and his twin brother Remo were nursed by a she-wolf. The history of Rome coincides with the history of humanity, since, in the course of millenia it extended its influence throughout all Europe. It was the first great metropolis of humanity, the heart of one of the most ancient civilization which influenced society, culture, language, philosophy, religion, law and customs in the following centuries. As evidence of its greatness there are monuments such as: the Colosseo, Foro Romano, Palazzi Imperiali,, Pantheon, Piazza di Spagna. Today Rome is the capital city of Italy and it has a population of residents. It is the center of the Italian politics and the seat of the Catholic Church.
