SERP

Strengths in SERP  Direct interaction with Communities though SHGs and federations  Staff working at cutting edge  Its Autonomy  Credibility with Govt  Social capital 32

Weaknesses in SERP  Lack of capacity building  Inability to change to new roles 33

Opportunities in SERP  SHGs, VOs, MMSs, ZSs  Bank linkage stabilized – capital available  Recognition among other line departments  Availability of resources like NRLM, SCSP, TSP etc. 34

Challenges for all of us  Universe across communities and across villages  Large no of minimum needs of the poor  Capacity building of CCs  Monitoring the performance of cutting edge staff  Cultural issues like non-accountability and corruption  CBOs yet to act as agents for addressing the ultra poverty 35

What should we do ?  Should be able to see poverty and our target groups of communities  Develop strategies to include real poor, strengthen their SHGs, repayments, providing facilitation support  Acquire multi-tasking skills  Acquire monitoring skills  Team building  Communication building  Use of IT 36

What should we do ?  Convergence with other program and effective implementation of our programs Poverty of food – ICDS, PDS, NDCC implementation Poverty of education –Linking out of school children, access to higher education Poverty of health – work with ANM s, PHCs, Lack of shelter – Housing program Lack of assets / Livelihoods /incomes – Investment plans for asset creation, effective grounding, NREGS, Lands Prone to risk – access to pensions, Insurance 37
