Since 1981, the APS Foundation has awarded over $30 million to nonprofits throughout AZ/NM Since 2012, the Foundation supports educational programs targeting students and teachers in STEM education The Foundation also launched a signature program designed specifically to enhance support to STEM teachers FOUNDATION HISTORY $1.8 MILLION Total amount invested in AZ/NM nonprofits in 2012.

OUR STEM FOCUS We support programs that: Address the STEM education needs in the state of Arizona Introduce a course of study and/or career path within the STEM subject areas Enhance student achievement and align with the state of Arizona’s academic standards Provide programming to rural communities Leverage the organization’s ability to grow sustainable programs with large scale reach and measurable impact Special consideration will be given to organizations targeting underserved populations including women, minorities and the economically disadvantaged.

Enhancing Support to STEM Teachers Deepening our commitment within STEM to make a measureable impact and increasing the visibility of APS’s commitment Larger grants to fewer partners in order to make a greater impact with goal to extend to multi-year partnerships Content knowledge in the STEM subjects Strong pedagogical skills OUR SIGNATURE INITIATIVE Supporting programs that develop:

Corporate Giving 6 Our focus: Community Vitality Support to arts and cultural institutions, human service, environment, education (non-STEM) organizations and event sponsorship Civic and Economic Development Chamber and business memberships/sponsorships and key projects within the APS service territory Enriching local communities Company commitment to creating a sustainable future for Arizona Total giving of $8.3 million in 2012

APS/Phoenix Suns STEM Mini-Grants 7 What are STEM mini-grants? A grant of up to $2,500 to support hands-on STEM projects in the classroom that will enhance student performance in the subject matter Who can apply? K-12 public and charter school teachers in APS service territory (statewide) Making a difference in the classroom Online applications accepted from August 12 – October 9, 2013

Employee Volunteerism 8 In 2012, volunteers shared more than 130,000 hours, valued at $3 million* APS’s Board Placement Program allows Leaders to donate time and talent to nonprofits for information about requesting APS Leveraging Employees’ time and talent Employee Engagement Dollars for Doers Matched on a tiered scale up to $500 Hours must be logged online Deadline March 1 Matching Gifts Matched 50 cents on the dollar Minimum of $50, maximum $1,000 Deadline March 1 *Calculated with Independent Sector rate of $21.79 per hour (2012) Employee Volunteerism Traditional and Skills-based Volunteerism Matching Gifts Dollars for Doers
