Maryland CTE Today Over 50% of high school students enrolled in CTE 25% of the class of 2005 completed a CTE program of study 47% of the CTE completers also completed the coursework for meeting the University System of Maryland; in 1993, it was only 14% 55,546 postsecondary students enrolled in CTE throughout 15 of Maryland’s 16 community colleges 4,293 postsecondary students received a degree or certificate

Development of Maryland’s Career Clusters Educators and Employers partnered to develop ten Career Clusters Based upon Maryland’s unique employment needs Career Pathways and Pathway Programs were identified within each Career Cluster Over 350 employers were involved in the validation and design process Focused on the breath, depth, and value added in CTE programs Moved from Procedural Knowledge to focus on Problem Solving and Critical Thinking
