MeLinne Moon COMMUNITY SERVICE
What is Community Service? “Services volunteered by individuals or an organization to benefit a community or its institutions.” Community service is volunteering to lending a helping hand or donate to a certain person or an organization.
Benefits of Community Service There are multiple benefits that come out of community service. By doing community service, you are always helping out someone in someway. For me I enjoy helping people and it gives me great satisfaction every time I do help out in the community. By using some of our time to give back we can do so much good, like saving a life, or keeping the environment clean, and many more things. Volunteering to do community service helps all around; it helps the person or organization you are doing it for and it helps you become a more well rounded individual.
Animal Shelter I volunteer at the Lowndes County Animal Shelter. I bathe the dirty dogs and clean out the cages. I take the big dogs out to the field in the back to play with them and let them run around. I take the little dogs into the visitation room to play with them.
Patterson Street Pickup Every year Phi Mu has an annual trash pick up on our section of Patterson Street. I volunteer to pick up trash because I enjoy keeping Valdosta clean and beautiful.
Phi Mu and KA Healthy Heart Walk Phi Mu and KA did a walk together around the Valdosta Middle School track to promote healthy hearts. We also all brought non- perishable canned food to donate.
Relay For Life I participated in VSU Relay For Life for my best friend’s grandmother. She passed away in December I thought it would be a good way to support my friend and donate to cancer research.
VSU Blood Drive I gave blood for American Red Cross at the Valdosta Valentines Day Blood Drive. I did this to help save other people’s lives.
