Snowball fight!
“Let’s go home it will be nice and warm there!”
“Snowflakes falling from the clouds”
“falling gently to the ground”
“Cover all with softest white”
“touch the earth without a sound.”
“The decorations look great! But we must put the presents under the tree.”
“Presents for Mummy, parcels for Daddy!
“We need lights! Let’s have candles…”
“But why do we have decorations?”
“And presents…?”
“And candles…?”
“And a star…why do we have any of them?”
“Long, long ago a young girl called Mary was told she was going to have a baby. He was to be the Son of God.”
“Mary and Joseph her husband traveled to Bethlehem. Mary was soon to have her baby. She was tired.”
“Bye and bye they find a little nook in a stable all forlorn…”
“Mary’s baby was born and she laid Him in a manger.”
On the hillside nearby were shepherds looking after their sheep…when suddenly angels appeared telling them to go to Bethlehem to see God’s Son, the baby Saviour.”
They sang “Glory to God in the Highest and Peace to men on earth!”
They immediately hurried to find Him.
“Soon many other people heard the news and came to find Him too.”
“The people were happy and brought their little children too.”
“At the same time in a far off land three wise men were following a bright new star that was leading them to Bethlehem.”
“They came bearing gifts…”
“The wise men brought Gold…”
“Frankincense and Myrrh.”
“And they worshipped Him because they knew He was the Saviour spoken of by the prophets.”
“So the answers to your questions are that we decorate to celebrate the Saviour’s birth, we give presents to remind us of the gifts brought by those wise men and we have candles and a star to tell us that Jesus the Saviour is the Light of the World.”
“Now we understand...Christmas is all about Jesus! It makes me so happy!...That’s why we wish each other Happy Christmas!”
