Gravity By: Vicky Shannon

Who discovered it? An English scientist named Sir Isaac Newton discovered gravity. He was the first person to study it seriously. He came up with three laws they are know as Newton's Laws.

Newton’s Laws 1. Objects at rest will stay at rest and objects in motion will stay in motion in a straight line unless acted upon by an unbalanced force. 2. Force is equal to mass times acceleration. 3. For every action there is always an opposite and equal reaction.

When did he discover it? Sir Isaac Newton discovered gravity between 1665 and 1666.

How did he discover it? When an apple fell from a tree and hit his head he started thinking about it on his mothers farm. He wondered if the same force that worked on the apple would work on the moon. Then he thought why did the apple fall from the earth and the moon doesn’t fall to the earth?

His conclusion He eventually came to the conclusion that, the apple and the moon were influenced by the same force. He named that force gravitation [gravity] after the Latin word gravitas which literally translates into "heaviness" or "weight."

Facts about Isaac Newton Sir Isaac Newton was 23 when he discovered gravity. He was born on Christmas day in When he was a child he loved to sing and play the harp and he was always interested in how things work. His mom died in 1679 He was born in Woolsthrope manor and it is still standing today and has been fully restored. He also invented the reflecting telescope in 1668 He died on march
