Education We have developed STEPS, a 24-weeks educational program that supplements and enhances the education of preschoolers and actively involves the parents in the learning experience of their children. Education begins at home! STEPS program: STEPS stands for Specialized Training and Education for Philippine Students.

Goal: To provide quality basic education for Philippine preschoolers from depressed areas and hereby promote an interest in education; to support their character building formation through learning God's word. Curriculum: We have created our own curriculum, using audio-visual tools and a combination of different modern teaching methods. Our classes involve reading, writing, Bible- and character building stories, English comprehension, simple math, art, singing and performing.

STEPS Doljo, Panglao

Graduation, Doljo, August 22, 2012

Parents’ Seminars Since we believe it of great importance that the parents are involved in their children’s education, we help the parents learn our teaching methods, and in workshops they make their own tools to extend their children's learning at home.

Kindergarten Teachers Seminars To further enhance the education of the children, we show new and improved teaching methods to the Kindergarten teachers.

Feeding Program Many of the children we teach in Doljo, Panglao, don't have enough food to eat. That is why we organized a regular feeding program. Some of the mothers of the STEPS children cook a hearty meal which the children and parents eat during their break.

Livelihood Programs Besides tourism, a great percentage of the people in Panglao live of the fishing industry. Some live of the land, but not all Barangays have fertile grounds. Aside from fishing, we are introducing to the people alternative ways to support their families, such as new technologies in organic and seaweeds farming.

Aquaponics Aquaponics is a sustainable food production system that combines a traditional aquaculture (raising aquatic animals such as fish, crayfish or prawns in tanks) with hydroponics (cultivating plants in water) in a symbiotic environment.

Seminars on Organic Farming & Waste Management We organized several seminars with the topics Organic Farming and Waste Management for the local community. Besides other attendees, the mayors of the districts, vice-mayors, as well as other community officials were present.

Medical Missions We have set up a mobile medical mission with free check-ups and medication for the poor in Panglao. So far we have been giving free medical examination and medical treatment to 268 patients from poor neighborhoods in Panglao and Dauis.

Health Awareness We conduct weekly seminars on disease prevention, healthy nutrition, sanitation and hygiene for the patients of our medical mission and the parents of our STEPS children and teach them alternative food sources that better meet their limited budget.

Spiritual Values Formation & Counseling Someone has wisely said that the Bible is a road map to life and studying it helps us to find out what God's plan is for us. Our regular Bible courses are often a springboard to lively discussions and a place where participants find answers to many questions and where new friendships are formed. Via the avenue of life coaching and personal counselling, new hope, vision, solutions to problems and comfort are found.

Projection for 2013 Daily STEPS courses for preschoolers Daily Feeding Program for STEPS students & parents Seminars for parents of STEPS students Seminars for day-care teachers Infusion of Agricultural Programs in poor neighborhoods Medical Mission will continue in our new Mission Center Health Awareness Programs & Spiritual Value Formation
