UNITED NATIONS OFFICE FOR THE COORDINATION OF HUMANITARIAN AFFAIRS (OCHA) Disasters Preparedness It’ s a broad concept that describes a set of measures that minimizes the adverse effects of a hazard including loss of life and property and disruption of livelihoods. Disaster preparedness is achieved partially through readiness measures that expedite emergency response, rehabilitation and recovery and result in rapid, timely and targeted assistance. It is also achieved through coping mechanisms which build the capacities of communities and minimize the effects of a disaster on their lives.

Scenarios and Planning Assumptions - Brief summary of agreed scenarios and planning assumptions that define the parameters of the contingency plan. Identify triggers 4. Objectives and Strategies - Concise statements of objectives, strategies and guiding principles. 5.
