How has broadband effected our lives Jack Mason

How has broadband changed in the last 10 years Broadband has changed dramatically in the last 10 years. Before broadband people had to use dial up internet connections in there homes provided by AOL. It is fair to say dial up internet was neither the fastest or most popular form on internet. Its annoying sound and slow speed annoyed many users

The introduction of broadband Broadband Internet service truly is the most used form of Internet access because of its high access speeds The newest broadband service is fiber-optic, which is the fastest Internet connection thus far. However, this type of Internet service is still in its infancy as its service areas are quite limited and because the laying down of the fiber-optic cable takes a while to complete Broadband internet became widely available in late 2001

Timeline of broadband 2000: It all started in Gillingham England 2001: The Introduction of online shopping 2002: The first social networks are introduced. We found ourselves bumping into old friends on the first social networks 2003: Yahoo and Hotmail are introduced. The big question became… Do you Yahoo or Hotmail? 2004: The year Facebook was introduced. Starting its dominance as the biggest social network 2005: Faster broadband was introduced and the launch of Youtube Meant web video was 2005’s big story 2006: We discovered we do not need wires as wireless routers became ubiquitous. We also got used to finding Wi-Fi where ever we go 2007: Virgin Media goes faster by doubling speeds up to 20mbs 2008: Virgin Media goes even faster by moving its speed up to 50mbs 2009: Broadband has officially taken over as everyone has officially gone digital 2010 and beyond: Right now Broadband are planning a 100mb broadband release which will defiantly change the landscape of broadband

Fibre Optic Broadband When fibre optic cable broadband arrived in the UK way back in the year 2000, it left all the others for dust. Ever since, Virgin Media has been pushing the boundaries and providing faster and faster speeds. Because it's fibre optic, it is capable of carrying information at the speed of light. In practice that means faster average download and upload speeds than you get with the main ADSL products on the market There are now a number of fibre optic broadband suppliers. They use different types of technology. Some other types of fibre optic broadband, such as BT Infinity.

Broadband Speeds broadband speed is the rate at which information flows between your computer and the web. Information flows in two directions; from the internet to your computer (downloads) and from your computer to the internet (uploads). These flows are measured in megabits. Download speeds Download speeds tell you how fast information (like a web page, a music track or a file download) flows from the web to your computer. The faster the download speed, the faster your information arrives.

How Broadband has upgraded Recently, we've seen the rise of new broadband technology, such as 3G mobile broadband and cable broadband. The former lets you get online on the go, while the latter has dramatically boosted connection speeds to a maximum of 120Mb.

Modern day broadband 2012 also saw the launch of the UK's first-ever 4G network, which promises to deliver mobile broadband connections of the speed and reliability you normally only get with fixed-line technology. When 4g was first released in the UK only certain city's had it available to them

How has broadband affected our lives Many industries are emerging because of the Internet. This includes the obvious ones, such as Internet service providers and device manufacturers. Others are undergoing radical transformation because of broadband. Journalists, politicians, doctors, and stockbrokers have transformed the work they do because of the Internet. So faster broadband has helped them in there career.

What does the future hold for broadband? IT is fair to say broadband has changed considerably since the times of dial up connections. With 4G offering speeds of 100megabits of mobile broadband, could we see even faster speeds within the coming years. 1 gigabits of broadband has already been released im some country's but it's no match for what's being hailed as the world's fastest commercially- provided home internet service: Nuro. Launched in Japan yesterday by Sony-supported ISP So-net, the fiber connection pulls down data at 2 Gbps. 2Gbps could be are household connection of the future
