IBM Blue Gene/P System Administration BGPMaster  mcServer  Midplane Management Control System (MMCS)  mpirund  Blue Gene Navigator Server  Real-time Server

IBM Blue Gene/P System Administration mcServer  mcServer is a wrapper around the Machine Controller (mc).  Machine controller is a library of functions providing low level control system access to the hardware.  mcServer provides a server and ports to connect to.  Arbitrates and controls access to the hardware to prevent simultaneous conflicts.  Also provides event handling.

IBM Blue Gene/P System Administration mcServer Layer

IBM Blue Gene/P System Administration Midplane Management Control System (MMCS)  High level control system  MMCS server runs on the service node  Used to configure and allocate blocks  Can be accessed directly using the MMCS console (mmcs_db_console), Blue Gene Navigator or various scheduler programs (using APIs).  Also provides polling service for the Environmental Monitor.

IBM Blue Gene/P System Administration mpirund  General purpose job launcher  Listens on port 9874 for incoming requests.

IBM Blue Gene/P System Administration Blue Gene Navigator Server  Full featured web based administration tool.  Can be used by end users and administrators.  The navigator_server process powers the Navigator pages.  Navigator is access via HTTPS on port 32072:

IBM Blue Gene/P System Administration Real-time Server  Provides schedulers with changes to the database as events occur  Used with applications  By default it isn’t started.

IBM Blue Gene/P System Administration BGPMaster Control  To start: bgpmaster start bgpmaster restart  To see status: bgpmaster status  To stop: bgpmaster stop  Can also be mostly performed from Navigator.

IBM Blue Gene/P System Administration Operating Systems  Service Node and Front End Node SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES)  IO Node LINUX with a reduced shell available  Compute Node CNK – Compute Node Kernel (LINUX like)
