Table of Contents Benefits of APUSH at OPRF Material Covered Workload Studying Tactics Class Structure For more information, visit: Sample APUSH SyllabusSample APUSH Syllabus

Benefits of APUSH at OPRF AP American helps students develop… More advanced writing skills Better work ethic More efficient study skills College level thinking Advanced reading skills

Material Covered OPRF APUSH covers everything from colonial times to the late 1990s including… The Articles of Confederation Alexander Hamilton and the Federalists The Civil War The Market and Industrial revolutions The Gilded Age World Wars I & II …and much more!

Workload About 1.5 hours of reading per night Few papers and projects throughout the year Multiple Choice test and the end of each unit Huge research paper at the end of the year Few Document Based Questions The workload in APUSH emulates that of a college course. It is a lot, but results in a better understanding of American History.

Studying Tactics Studying tactics often adopted by APUSH students: Spread out studying (rather than cramming) Creating study guides Diligent note taking and annotating All of which are very helpful for other classes

Class Structure This is a college level course, meaning that Students are given independence to decide to complete homework Students learn the consequences of procrastination before college Students are able to get used to a college class setting
