Tuesday 7/1/14 Church Meeting Agenda 1.Review a working church model that was blessed by God. (1 st Century Church) 2. Give a report on the health of our church 3. Suggest practices to increase the health of our church?

32 The whole group of believers was united in their thinking and in what they wanted. None of them said that the things they had were their own. Instead, they shared everything. 33 With great power the apostles were making it known to everyone that the Lord Jesus was raised from death. And God blessed all the believers very much. 34 None of them could say they needed anything. Everyone who owned fields or houses sold them. They brought the money they got 35 and gave it to the apostles. Then everyone was given whatever they needed. Acts 4 Read The Text Below and… 1)create a picture in your mind that illustrates the actions in the text. 2)Explain why you think the disciples did this and list two benefits of this practice. 3)Explain two reasons, (if any) you disagree or are hesitant with this practice.

2)Explain why you think the disciples did this and list two benefits of this practice. 3)Explain two reasons, (if any) you disagree or are hesitant with this practice. Tell the church that’s all we have and keep this aside. One of these things do not belong here My illustrations of Acts 4:32-35 Spiritual growth People saved/Delivered Everything Pertaining to life Add to the church Believers United Believers Shared Jesus is alive and has the power to save! Believers Promote Gospel Believers Blessed Which aspect of the text does this picture illustrate List 4 types of blessings this church may have received.

Your List Positives & Negatives of this Type of Church Positives Unity/peace = No discord/disputes Caring/Loving atmosphere in church Met the needs of fellow believers Gospel can be effectively preached Focused/unified congregation can accomplish anything Negatives Our Church did not note any negatives for this type of church *Note: Make a note of points you would like to add to either list. You may bring them up during our review.

Lets check our church’s current health Note: We are not in the red. Our account is in the black. But we have noticed a current downward trend and it is wise to inform the family and fix it now before it becomes worse and threatens the ministry of Christ here at our church. Needs Word Time Receive v Implementation Finances Attendance Homeostasis: Balance Church Can Sustain Christ Can’t Explain what has happened to the homeostasis. Explain what happens to Christ if we do not address this situation. List two ways we can fix this condition in the body. There are many areas to look at when determining the health of a church. Today we will focus on 4. If all levels are where they should be then the church has good homeostasis and is balanced And can sustain Christ

Your List of suggestions Finances Cut back on spending  Example: No Summer Barbecues Fund Raisers Members stay committed to their financial responsibility  What ever you said you would give regularly, “Please give it regularly.” Everyone commit to giving regularly a tithe, or specified amount so we can budget our church based on a regularly expected income. Members leave their tithes and financial commitment if they will not be in attendance Attendance Members reach out to members who are not in attendance and find out what happened and encourage them to come out. *Note: Make a note of points you would like to add to either list. You may bring them up during our review. Pastor Paul responded, “Lets not get crazy!”

Your List 0f suggestions Needs Determine what is a “need” and if/when we should use church or personal finances to address it.  It was put forth that a “need” is related to clothes, food, shelter, and health.  It was put forth we should address the “need” when the person(s) are in one accord with the church family and are actively apart of reaching the families goals (based on Acts 4 and principles establish in part one of the lesson) Word Time: Relieve v Implementation Definition: From the time God gives us the word/vision for our church and we agree on it to the time when we start to implement it.  Example: Word/Family seminars - Implementation date ? No suggestions were made in this area *Note: Make a note of points you would like to add to either list. You may bring them up during our review.

The Vision to be agreed upon: We have developed a prescription to address the condition of finances and needs.
