7.6 Multiplying a Polynomial by a Monomial Objective: a)Multiply a polynomial by a monomial b)Solve equations involving the products of monomials and polynomials

Polynomial Multiplied by a Monomial To find the product of a polynomial and monomial we can use the DISTRIBUTIVE PROPERTY

Example-Find the Product -3x 2 (7x 2 – x + 4) -6d 3 (3d 4 – 2d 3 – d + 9)

You Try 2x 2 (x 2 +3x) 5a 2 ( -4a 2 + 2a –7 ) 4m 2 (9m 2 n+mn-5n 2 )

Example- Simplify the expression 2p( -4p 2 +5p) – 5(2p 2 +20) -3a(2a-12) + 5a

You Try- Simplify the expressions -9g(-2g+g 2 ) + 3(g 2 +4) 6(12b 2 -2b) + 7(-2 – 3b)

Solve the equation -6(11-2x)=7(-2 – 2x)

Solve the equation a(a – 6) + 2a = 3 + a(a – 2)

You Try- Solve for a 2a(5a – 2) + 3a(2a+6) + 8 = a(4a + 1) + 2a(6a – 4) + 50

You Try, Solve for x 2x(x + 4) + 7 = (x + 8) + 2x(x+1) +12
