Warm Up What is the organelle pathway that is taken to make a protein? (it’s on your blue organelle story) 1.N__________ 2.R___________ 3. R___________ 4. G____________ 5. V____________

Organelle Story Pull out your blue paper that we used to learn that pathway to making a protein. We are going to finish filling it in!!

ATP First food must be brought into the cell. It can get in a variety of ways. In the case of today’s cell, lets say it can pass through the cell membrane with the help of a carrier protein. This sometimes requires energy. Once the food is in the cell, it is placed inside a food vacuole for storage.

The food in the vacuole is too large to be used for energy by the cell so the vacuole eventually meets up with a lysosome. Lysosomes are like a cell stomach. They contain enzymes that break down the food. Digested food is then released. REVIEW… What molecules do the blue hexagons represent?
