2 Most popular languages in Europe The Europe Union has 23 official languages. They are: Bulgarian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Irish, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Maltese, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovak, Slovene, Spanish and Swedish. The most popular languages are German, French and English The most spoken language is German. Europe also has more than 60 indigenous regional and minority languages

3 European Day of Languages Every year, 26 September is the day we celebrate Europe’s rich linguistic heritage. The first European day of languages was held in 2001 Brussels will host International Language Days on 8 and 9 March 2013 at the Square-Brussels Meeting Centre.
