Jeremiah the Prophet
Overview of Jeremiah as a Preacher of God’s Word Was very young when called to service by God (Jeremiah 1:8) Was a shy, timid man Israelites at this time were very sinful and treated prophets before Jeremiah very poorly Jeremiah knew that God was with him and even though he was afraid the people would reject him, he knew he was called by God to do big things King Jehoiakim imprisoned Jeremiah for writing and distributing the Word of God Every day of Jeremiah’s life, he warned the Israelites that their sins would lead them to be defeated by the Babylonians
Overview cont. Jeremiah knew that King Nebuchadnezzar would come and take over Israel because God had told him to warn Israel Israel would not listen and led to the Babylonian Captivity Jeremiah was a faithful servant and cried daily for the people’s sins earning him the title of “The Weeping Prophet”
