What is a plural? one cat two cats
Plural or Singular? one flower three flowers

Plural A plural word is where we have more than 1 thing. –Singular = 1 –Plural = More than 1
Watch Out – Rules! There are lots of rules when changing words from singular to plural. BE CAREFUL! We are going to look at just two of the rules. LISTENING?
Adding ‘s’ For most words we just add ‘s’ to the end of it to change it into a plural. one applethree apples desk → desksmonth → months book → bookstrain → trains pen → pensname → names
Adding ‘es’ For others we need to add ‘es’ to change it to a plural. one brushtwo brushes box → boxesdish → dishes glass → glassesquiz → quizes
Rule! If the word ends with a long s sound or a hiss sound like; –sh –ch –ss »then add ‘es’ - s - x - z
