Early Life & Education o Thomas Jefferson was born April 13, o He was the third of ten children in his family. o Jefferson started school in o Thomas Jefferson attended the College of William and Mary when he was 16. o Father, Peter, died when he was 14 o Close sister, Jane, died at 25 (when he was 22)

Declaration of Independence In 1776, Thomas Jefferson was comissioned to write the Declaration. Document states the colonists rights and independence from England Original Declaration is displayed in Washington, DC 56 delegates signed The Declaration of Independence is influenced by the ideas of John Locke.
