English class # 1 What's your favorite local hang out? Cultural aspects, adjectives for descriptions, everyday expressions

Let’s talk about our city! Where is a good place to buy handcraft work and homemade artefacts, like “cuia”, “erva mate”, “frutas”, “bacalhau” and “cereais”? Which places would you suggest to people go visiting in POA? Are there Museums open on Sundays? Which one is the best in your opinion? Where is it? Are Thickets free of charge? Are there parks where people go to have a rest, to walk dog or just to get together? Is there a fountain?

Describe it, please! Can someone kindly describe London for me? Funny ha? well, I used to live in the capital of my country but it seems that you can not compare it even with the center of London! What I'd like to know as a start how many parts is Great London consisting of? north, south, south east....?? or something like this? Where is the heart of the city? lol it seems London is a collection of hearts! Thank you for your time

Let’s go sightseeing? London is one of the great walking cities of the world. I had fun riding the tubes all day - starting the day at Kings Cross on a Monday at 8 am. Wow! Talk about crowded. Pricey place to stay but worth every pound. Endless things to see and do in London. A must see city. Mind-the-Gap!

The Houses of Parliament, also called the Palace of Westminster, range along the Thames with Victoria Tower at one end and Big Ben, the famous bell in the Clock Tower, at the other. Westminster Abbey, built in Gothic style, has been the scene of the coronation of sovereigns from William the Conqueror to Elizabeth II. Buckingham Palace was made the official residence of the Sovereign by Queen Victoria. The Royal Guards change at every day much to the delight of the tourists. The conclusion remains the same.. London is a perfect binding of the past and the present, a city with so many places to visit that one couldn't find the time to view them all. Samuel Johnson was right when he said that when someone is tired of London he is tired of life.

"...the most interesting people in the world go to Camden Market, London; home of alternative fashion and design..."

This is the best of all London street markets. Camden gets a hundred thousand visitors every weekend. Sunday is the busiest for the market while Saturday is known for the nightlife. But all the major shops are open each day of the week. They sell fashion needs like day & clubbing wear, vintage and retro wear, gothic and punk wear, and lots of unique designer fashion. They have accessories, jewelry, arts, crafts, and leathers. You can alight from the Camden Town tube station to get here. Camden Lock is beside the Regent’s Canal. You can also opt to go straight to the Stables thru Chalk Farm tube station.

This used to be a weekend London market; now it’s a phenomenon held every day (ramping up to overdrive on the weekends), spilling over into the streets and attracting possibly the greatest concentration of freaks per square metre in the world today: punks, goths, hippies, ferals, ravers, rappers, chavs, gimps, celebs, grannies, pollies. There are a few components to it: Camden Lock Market, for craft-type thingies; Camden Stables, for alternative fashion; and an indoor fashion market at the Electric Ballroom.

What's your favorite local hang out? Umm I like hanging out in the city centre, it's where the mall is but I don't hang out inside the mall, I go and explores the little boutiques and vegan shop (which has the most AMAZING vegan sausage rolls!) and just look around. Lately I've taken to hanging out in a bus, yes a bus, I just take a random bus and stay on the bus for like an hour till it gets back to the bus stop I got on at. It's really cool, just looking out the window and day dreaming or talking with your friend. =] You see places you didn't even know about. It's FUN!
