Presentation transcript:

Please write all of the BLUE information down so you can remember it!

 You are expected to attend the conference ALL SESSIONS on Friday- it starts at 10:00, but please arrive at least 10 minutes early to check in with me  The conference runs until 17:10, but has a lunch break from 11:55-13:00, and another break from 14:40-14:55.  I will be taking attendance during each study and after each break.

 Your assignment for during the Conference has 2 parts: 1. Behavior and Respect: 10 points 2. Written Assignment: 10 points potential extra credit for Saturday attendance: 12 points

 You will be representing not only ASK, but also my classes, so you need to be listening intently the entire time and being respectful of those presenting and those around you.  This means: no cell phones, ipods, or any other electronic devices that might distract you, no talking to those around you- even whispers are rude= you must all be paying attention.  If I or any other adult/teacher has to remind you to be quiet, you will automatically lose your points for this part of the assignment.

 Your written assignment is to completely fill out the guided notes chart I will provide you with.  I will give you a copy of this when you check in with me on Friday morning.  You will have to take notes on each presentation’s research methods, findings, and conclusions, as well as answer a final reflection question.

 Your attendance on Saturday is NOT MANDATORY, but will be extra credit.  If you come on Saturday, it again starts at 10:00, has a lunch break, and ends at 15:40.  You must attend at least 4 sessions on Saturday to gain the extra credit points (12 points)  To get these points, you must check in with me and let me know you are here, and also get the guided notes worksheet from me to fill out about the studies you see presented.

 If you are unable to attend on Friday, and have an EXCUSED absence, you must do your own research on a local or regional social problem of your choice. 1. Pick a social problem, and write a paragraph on why you chose it- how is it a problem… 2. You will do some research on this problem- find at least 3 different current (within last 5 years) news articles that discuss this issue. 3. Read these articles and write a paragraph summarizing each article and what they are saying about your chosen issue. 4. Discuss any solutions presented in the articles you read. Do you agree with the solutions at all? Why or why not? Do you think there will ever be a solution to your certain problem? Why or why not?
