Grasslands  Savanna Savanna  Prairie Prairie

Savanna  A savanna is a hot, seasonally dry grassland with scattered trees. This an environment that is in between a grassland and a forest.  Savannas are located in dry tropics and subtropics, near rainforests-Africa, Australia, South America, India  Animals living in savannas have to adapted to the changes in food supply throughout the year. There is lots of food during and after the wet season and almost no food during the dry. Animals  More Information More Information

Animals in the Savanna  Africa  Elephant, antelopes, buffalo, jackal  Australia  Kangaroo, wallaby Kangaroo  India  Indian wolf, tiger, nightjar

Prairie  Temperate grassland  Semi-arid, windy, few trees, shrubs, hot during summer, very cold during winter  Tall Grass Prairie-rich soil, moderate precipitation  Short Grass Prairie-little precipitation  Located in the interior of North America  More Information More Information

Animals in the Prairie  Badger, bison, condor, coyote  prairie chicken, prairie dog, prairie skink, prairie dog  common snipe, white/black tailed jack rabbit
