Key Competencies Cultural Expression, pupils were given the opportunity to express their culture through drama Interpersonal and Social Competence, pupils worked together to achieve a common goal

Learning Intentions Children can listen to and re -tell a story using skills in literacy and expressive arts. Children can research information independently using ICT. Children are able to work in a team successfully, to organise and create a presentation. Children will show that they can express and share what they have learned about their culture through drama. Children are able to present clearly, confidently and audibly to an audience.

Context and Activities Children are introduced to the story of the life of Robert Burns through language lessons and personal research using ICT. Children work as a class to create a play in a day about his life. Led by Visiting Specialist in drama they learnt about the life of Burns and rehearsed for their performance. Children presented their play to other classes and parents at the end of the day. The children then used the information learned to organise a whole school concert celebrating the life of Robert Burns on Burns’ Day.
