What Makes a Good Children’s Book? How Librarians Choose Books for Their Libraries

What do kids like to read? How do librarians encourage students to read “good” books? How do children’s books teach heroic values, citizenship, and leadership?

What do kids like to read? Some like to read the latest, “coolest” books that their peers read. Some only read books that interest them. Some read books that have been made into movies: The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe The Giver The Hobbit Tuck Everlasting

Some like to read Classics such as: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn A Christmas Carol Little Women The Secret Garden Some like to read Newbery Medal Award winning books: Flora & Ulysses: The Illuminated Adventures The Giver Shiloh medalwinners
