Presentation transcript:

Human Anatomy & Physiology Science Elective  To explore the systems of the human body and relate their functions to homeostasis  To develop dissection techniques and learn the language of anatomy  To develop an understanding of scientific writings and to practice writing in the APA style  To explore current events and issues in the biomedical sciences Objectives:

Human Anatomy & Physiology  Counts as 4 th science for graduation with an advanced diploma >cannot count as third required science  Is a science elective Lab class >fee for dissection kits >no alternative to dissections in class

Human Anatomy & Physiology  Intensive course in terms of amount of material learned  Memorization is a key to learning  Students will get out of the course what they put into it!

Human Anatomy & Physiology  No at home reading—reading is done through powerpoint lectures in class.  No assigned homework—except for Article Reviews and studying for tests or quizzes, all assignments are given class time to be completed, including labs.

Human Anatomy & Physiology  End of year:  Culminating dissection of cats  Bioethics research paper & presentation  No final exam

Human Anatomy & Physiology  Regular attendance in class is essential for maximum success in any lab-based course.  Labs must be made up after school or during Saxon Time (if time allows)  Limited specimens and/or materials for make-up labs
