Tasmania has a cool temperate climate with four distinct seasons. Summer lasts from December to February when the average maximum sea temperature is 21 °C (70 °F) and inland areas around Launceston reach 24 °C (75 °F). Other inland areas are much cooler, with Liawenee, located on the Central Plateau, one of the coldest places in Australia, ranging between 4 °C (39 °F) and 17 °C (63 °F) in February. Autumn lasts between March and May and experiences changeable weather, when summer weather patterns gradually take on the shape of winter patterns.

Salamanca he iconic Salamanca Market is a celebration of Tasmania's unique culture, creative artisans, talented musicians and diverse producers. The weekly outdoor market, held every Saturday, brings Hobart’s waterfront alive with the colours, sounds and smells of Tasmania. With the historic Georgian sandstone buildings of Salamanca Place as its backdrop and yachts and fishing boats moored nearby, this picturesque market is a favourite for locals and visitors alike.

Port Arthur The settlement began life in 1830 as a timber station. Governor Arthur chose the Tasman Peninsula as an ideal place to put prisoners. In the years that followed, convicts created a small town for 1,100 inmates at its peak in the early 1840s.

Launceston is a city in the north of Tasmania, Australia at the junction of the North Esk and South Esk rivers where they become the Tamar River. Launceston is the second largest city in Tasmania after Hobart.[4] With a population (greater urban and statistical sub division) of 106,153, Launceston is the ninth largest non-capital city in Australia. SHEFFIELD - Town of Murals The first mural in Sheffield was unveiled in December Since then over sixty murals depicting the area's rich history and beautiful natural scenery have been painted on walls scattered throughout the town and buildings along the roadside. The murals attract an estimated 220,000 people to the town annually. In the heart of Sheffield, there are a number of studios open to the public where visitors can watch the artists as they do their work. There are artists of every discipline, including photography, fine art, glass, woodcraft, pottery, ceramics and specialised crafts.

Tasmania’s lifestyle is gaining in reputation, evidenced by the growing number of visitors to the State each year. Whether you are seeking a wilderness experience or prefer to relax and enjoy the café society, there is something here for everyone. If you enjoy sports, Tasmania hosts AFL football matches, international and domestic cricket and other sporting codes. If the arts are to your liking, there are a number of boutique and cosmopolitan galleries and arts precincts. Tasmania has its own symphony orchestra and ballet company. If your interests are in the direction of food and drink, Tasmania is a food and wine-lover’s paradise.
