African American History Month Biography By: Tracy Weinkauf

Can One Person Make a Difference? During this project you will be researching and examining the following questions and topics for your assigned person: –1) What was their early family life like? –2) What was their educational background? –3) What did they accomplish in their life? –4) What obstacles or difficulties did they overcome? –5) How did they make a difference? Why are their accomplishments important to us today?

Slide #1 Introduction Slide –Include: –Title –Picture or clip art –Name –Date –Period

Slides #2- 5 These slides will answer the unit questions. Each question should be given ATLEAST one slide. Include clip art or pictures and transitions.

Slides # 6-8 Slide #6- A fun fact slide. This slide will be for information that is interesting, but does not belong or fit with the unit questions. Slide #7- Comprehension check slide. This slide gives you the opportunity to quiz your classmates on their presentations, and allows me (the teacher) to know who was listening to the presenter. Slide #8- Reference slide.

So What? This unit will give us the opportunity to focus on one African American that has made a difference in the world today. When giving and listening to other students’ speeches, students will be given the opportunity to hear and see other African American people that have made a difference and helped paved the way for many minority groups in our country.
