R: BOOK COVER Symbols: The Plane on my book cover stands for when Hazel and Gus were on their plane ride to Amsterdam. An entire chapter of the book was on the plane ride. The Champagne bottle on my book cover stands for when Hazel and Gus were at Oranjee, a restaurant in Amsterdam where Gus took Hazel on their first date. The Cigarette stands for courage, and Gus always carries around a pack. Since he had Cancer, he pretend “smokes” the cigarettes to show his battle with cancer.
