He was born on January 30, 1882 He was educated at home and then he went to Groton private school in Massachusetts. On March 17 th he married his distant cousin Eleanor Roosevelt. He was elected into the New York State Senate and he was also the Governor of New York State. He also was appointed Assistant Secretary of the Navy under Woodrow Wilson. He was nominated VP on the ticket with James N. Cox, they were defeated. He was stricken with polio at Compobello, in New Brunswick, Canada. He is the founder of the Georgia Warm Springs Foundation for treatment of polio victims. He was elected President in 1932, 1936, 1940, and also in 1944.

FDR  March 17, 1905 he married Eleanor Roosevelt in New York City.  He had a lot of experience in politics, he started out as a New York Senator, then Assistant Secretary of the Navy, nominated for vice presidency, Governor of New York, and he was elected president four times in a row  He was stricken with polio in August of 1921  Died in the beginning of his fourth presidency in Warm Springs, Georgia on April 12, 1945

He was born on November 30, 1874 at Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire and dies on January 24, Went to Harrow School and later in enrolled in the Military Academy, Sandhurst. He was commissioned into the 4 th Hussars, then he was a cavalry officer, and participates in a regimental cavalry. He failed to be elected into parliament, then he travels as a journalist to the Boer War, and then he was in the South African Light Horse all in Elected to parliament as a conservative MP in Married the love of his life Clementine Hozier in Was the Secretary of States for War and Air in Becomes Prime Minister in 1940, 1951, and resigns as prime minister in He wins the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1953.

Winston Churchill  Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill  Born at Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire on November 30, 1874  Son of Randolph Churchill and Lady Randolph  Lord Randolph was a conservative and his mom was too busy with the fashionable social life to raise him  He was raised by Mrs. Everest  He entered Harrow School, then he enrolled in the Royal Military Academy, in Sandhurst  His father died when he was 20 years old  He married Clementine Hozier on September 12, 1908

Winston Churchill  After school he was commissioned into the 4 th Hussars then he became a cavalry officer  Then he was with the 21 st Lancers and then he was commissioned into the South African Light Horse  He returned to England and was elected into parliament as a conservative MP, then he became President of Board and Trade, then he was home Secretary, and then he was the Secretary of State for War and Air  As he continues his careers he becomes First Lord of the Admiralty, and then he finally becomes the Prime Ministers two times in a row  Then he resigns  He dies on January 24, 1965 in London England

Similarities  Both had rich American mothers  Were both obsessive collectors as boys  Politics were their passion  Supporters and friends of each other  Loved tobacco, strong drinks, history, the sea, battleships, hymns, pageantry, patriotic poetry, high office, and hearing themselves talk

They had such an interesting friendship that will go down in history for forever!!!

Similarities  They helped each other in WWII and they won together and they wouldn’t have been able to do that without each other  Both were very courageous and very high ranked within their own countries  Accomplished a lot in their lifetimes and were men of peace  They also savored power  They would talk about war, politics, the burden of command, their health, wives, and children

Differences  FDR was from the US  Winston was from the UK  FDR was a president  Winston was a prime minister  FDR was raised by his parents  Winston was raised by a nanny hired by his parents
