 Course Lecturer: Prof.Dr. Hassan Abd Ellatif Course Assistant: Eng: Shimaa Course Objectives: The objective of this course is to enable students to: To enable students to: * Identify different soil problems. * Identify Stresses and displacement in soil mass as elastic body - Stress due to different load (point load & uniformly loaded area). * Identify Consolidation of Soil, Shear Strength of soil, Bearing Capacity of shallow foundation. * Design Shallow foundation (defined and types ) & Foundation construction. * Identify Earth pressures & design Retaining walls. * design Sheet - Piles walls - Cantilevered & anchored. * Check Stability of earth fills – Dams. Course Description: Stresses and displacement in soil mass as elastic body - Stress due to different load (point load & uniformly loaded area) - Consolidation of Soil, Shear Strength of soil, Bearing Capacity of shallow foundation - Compressibility, consolidation and settlement. Introduction to lateral earth pressure and slope stability, piles,foundations,sheet piles.
