 No one actually knows who discovered silver or when, but there is evidence it was known to the ancients.  It is believed that, as early as 4,000 B.C., that man was able to separate silver from lead.

 The name silver originates from the Old English Word- seolfor.  The symbol for silver, Ag, comes from the Latin word argentum.  In the ancient times silver was one of the most expensive metals, but every since 1344 the prices for silver have steadily declined. But today silver prices are begin to increase.
