Masonry Tools Flip Book Instructions

Step 1: You need 5 pieces of paper. Lined or plain will work. You also need a pen and a ruler. Draw a line down the center of the paper long ways.

Step 2: Cut the paper in half along the line. Do this with all of your sheets of paper. Then piece one, measure down one inch and fold top over. Next, measure the next piece at one and a half inches and fold. Next 2 inches, then 2 and a half, then 3 inches, then 3 and a half and so on.

Step 3: Continue this pattern with all of your pieces of paper.

Step 4: Slide all of the pieces inside of one another. Start with the 1 inch cut as the base. Slide each larger folder under the smaller fold. Your flip book should look like the one below.

Step 5: Staple all of the sheets together at the top

Step 6: label the ends of each page that are visible The top is labeled “Masonry Hand Tools” Then label each page with a different tool

Step 7: Take the tool handouts and cut out each box containing a tool

Step 8: Paste the tool on the appropriate page Write what the tool is used for, how it is used, and any important facts. Use the back for additional tools and descriptions.

Now use the study book to learn about the names and proper use of all the masons hand tools. Use Chapter 2, Tools and Equipment from the MCAA masonry Training Series for descriptions.
