 2East is a Northwestern University faculty resource center located on the 2 nd floor, East tower of the University Library  Established to promote scholary technologies and bibliographic resourse activities  NUL’s Digital Media services, Collection management, and NUIT’s Academic Technologies

 Program offered jointly by the the Searle Center for Teaching Excellence, Academic Technologies, and the University Library  Workshop format and is held over five consecutive days  Faculty must be nominated by their chairs or deans in order to participate in the program

 Specifically intended for NU faculty who want to take advantage of the teaching and research capabilities of digital media, course management systems, online archives, advanced visualization technologies, electronic journals, and other emerging technologies

 Partnership between NUL Digital Media Services and Academic Technologies  Initial project funded through a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS)  Winterton Collection of East African photographs: 7,610 photographs depicting life in East Africa between the 1860s and 1960s

 Partnership between Library and NUIT  Collaborative space  Highly desirable space at library entrance  Test bed for new technologies  First stop for all patrons  Shared staffing

 5100 sq. ft  Phase One: Summer and Fall 2004  complete renovation  infrastructure and carpeting installed  Phase Two: Winter 2005  furniture installed  official opening  Phase Three: Summer 2005  completion of Group Project Room
