 In 2010, 1 in 18 US workers were in STEM jobs  STEM occupations are projected to grow by 17.0% from , compared to 9.8% for non-STEM occupations  STEM workers earn 26% more than non-STEM workers  STEM degree holders earn more, whether they work in STEM or non-STEM occupations.  Geoscience-related jobs will increase by 23% by 2021  Rate of growth in geoscience occupations is more than 2X faster than all other occupations in the U.S.  Of the 262,627 geoscientists working today, only 130,000 will still be working in 2021!  By 2021, there will be approximately 322,000 jobs in the geosciences U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics 2010 And Keane 2011

 By 2021, there will be approximately 322,000 jobs in the geosciences  Maximum production of new geoscientists by 2021 is 63,000  There will be between 145,000 and 202,000 unfilled geoscience jobs by 2021!  These trends drive increased opportunities and higher salaries U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics 2010 And Keane 2011
