Presentation on Self Motivation

Introduction Let us look into these videos before we proceed Lead India movie Change your mind clip Promise yourself clip What do you feel on going through these small clips? Motivated to learn how you can build motivation and sustain? Let us proceed

What is Motivation? Motivation is the inner power or energy that pushes one towards performing a certain action. Motivation is one of most important keys to success Motivation strengthens the ambition, increases initiative and gives direction, courage, energy and the persistence to follow one's goals. Motivation is a powerful tool in the work environment that can lead to employees working at their most efficient levels of production.

What is Self Motivation & what is the need? Self Motivation is the Force that drives you to do things It is a key life skill, for ones who are interested in personal development Self Motivation pushes us to achieve our goals, feel more fulfilled and improve overall quality of life Self Motivated people tend to have more self-esteem and confidence

What is Self Motivation & what is the need? If you want to excel in life, Self-motivation is essential It help you to keep your spirit high no matter how discouraging a situation is It helps in getting the power you need to overcome difficulties It helps you to be more organised, with good time management skills

Types Intrinsic Motivation Extrinsic Motivation To perform an action or task based on the expected or perceived satisfaction of performing the action or task.  Intrinsic motivators include having fun, being interested and personal challenge. Extrinsic Motivation To perform an action or task in order to attain some sort of reward, including money, power and good marks or Promotions.

Types In their simplest form you can think about these two types of motivation as: Intrinsic = love, because we want to. Extrinsic = money, because we have to. Different people are motivated by different things and at different times in their lives.  The same task may have more intrinsic motivators at certain times and more extrinsic motivators at others, most tasks have a combination of the two types of motivation.

For Example Rama works because he has to pay his home loan and feed himself and his family.  He gets no satisfaction from his job and there is no chance of promotion.  Rama’s motivators are purely extrinsic. Sita works because she loves what she does, she gets enormous satisfaction and self-fulfilment from her work.  Sita has enough money put away that she does not need to work, she owns her house outright and can afford to buy what she wants when she wants it.  Sita’s motivators are purely intrinsic. Clearly Sita and Rama are at different ends of the spectrum when it comes to self-motivation.  Most people, however, fall somewhere in the middle. Most people do have to work in order to earn money, but at the same time they also find their day-to-day work life rewarding

8 Steps in Self Motivation Start Simple Keep good company Keep Learning Stay Positive Stop thinking Know yourself Track your progress Get Help & Help others

1. Start Simple Keep motivators around your work area Things that give you that initial spark to get going like a Family photo To get started, count your successes Put some questions for yourself What do you have going for you? What have you done in the past that was awesome? What resources you have at your disposal?

2. Keep good company Make more regular encounters with positive and motivated people Try to avoid negative people and seek out positive It is a lot easier to be motivated if the people around you are Discuss the ideas and get suggestions Learn from other’s experience

3. Keep learning Read and try to take everything you can from Department Web site, Circulars & Manuals The more you learn, the more confident you become If you are aware of the latest rules and regulations you are more confident to work Try to acquire latest skill & knowledge & get adopted to massive change in the department For example working on Finacle CBS

4. Stay Positive See the good in bad. There will be failures along the way. Being a perfectionist about yourself will just leave you frustrated and tempted to give up. When encountering obstacles, you want to be in habit of finding what works to get over them Positive thoughts are the only way you will even find motivation in the first place Divert your attention from negative thoughts whenever you are thinking about your motivation Think all the things you have achieved in the past, then there should not be any reason you are not able to achieve now.

4. Stay Positive Your failures or setbacks have nothing to do with you and everything to do with being human. They happen. Sometimes they will happen because of you, but sometimes they will happen because of circumstances that are beyond your control. Going into this with a level head will benefit you greatly in the long run.

5. Stop thinking It’s really simple to know what you don’t want, what you are afraid of but it is harder to pinpoint what exactly would make you happy and what exactly you are striving for There will be times when you have to do things you really don’t want to. Stop thinking Just do. Once you get started on something, you will almost always just get into it and keep going.

6. Know yourself Know your strengths and weakness Work on ironing out your weakness and building on your strengths Do what you enjoy. Most of us have jobs we aren't crazy about. We have to make them as manageable and as enjoyable as possible Think about your job. If it stinks, how can you make it better? Can you ask to work on a specific area that interests you? How can you focus your time on the aspects that you do like? If working out is a bummer, find a different one! You don't have to be a marathon runner to burn calories. Go swimming, take a class, or go hiking. If you don't like the exercise you're doing, you won't stick with it.

7. Track your progress Make sure to track your behaviors and their results Not only do you need the results to look at and go, you'll need the results to see what does and does not work for you If you try three different methods of studying, three different workouts, etc., which one gave you the best results for your effort? You can then streamline and strategize from there.

8. Get help & Help others Don’t be afraid to ask other for help Share your ideas and help friends get motivated Seeing others to well will motivate you to do the same You will gradually develop certain skills that become motivational habits

Tips (All is Well) Speak as though you are already the way you want to be. Do not say "I am becoming positive"; "I am positive" is much better. There will be hurdles, but you have got to keep going. One wrong step can wash out all the good steps you have taken and similarly One right step can also leap you forward. This is life.

Tips Positive affirmations repeated often will help you become strong. Choose one that fits with your problem. If you are scared, Say "I am safe." If you are shy, say "I am a very confident person." Avoid using negative words to stay focused. The journey of unleashing your potential is truly a worthy one. During this journey, knowingly/unknowingly you will have helped many unleash their respective potential.

Warnings Do NOT worry about the dumb things, because negative thoughts become negative habits, just as positive thoughts become positive habits. Do not beat yourself up if you suffer a lapse in your new-found pattern of self-motivation. You will get back on track. Be self-forgiving. Have courage to confront hurdles if you really think you are right. Being self-motivated does not mean forcefully smiling and trying to please everyone. Be soft on yourself.
