Romeo and Juliet Modern Relevance By Yukiko and Darllelys

Passion The main point is love and passion between teenagers. It can happen so suddenly. It cannot be explained. When they are in love, they only want to be with each other. Nothing else matters. (Romeo and Juliet)

Fighting Next, fighting between two families is an important point. When two families have had problems for a long time, no-one knows how to fix it. Each side believes they are right, and have always been right. Contact between them is always full of fighting. (Capulets and Montagues)

Friendship and Loyalty Friendship and loyalty has always been important in life. Good friends help and support each other against an enemy. Sometimes they are good at listening to us, and sometimes they make fun of us when we are being foolish. (Mercutio and Romeo)

Parents and Children The relationship between parents and children is not always easy, even today. Parents want their children to be happy and successful. Sometimes parents force their children to do something, because they think it is best for them. (Juliet and her parents)

Anger and Violence Anger and violence are always dangerous. When anger cannot be controlled, and it becomes violent, someone can get hurt or killed. The angry person always believes he is right. He feels justified, so he can do what he wants.

Uncomplicated and Happy Some people are uncomplicated and happy. They do not think deep, difficult thoughts. They are satisfied with their lives. They care for other people, they are helpful, and they like to laugh. (Nurse)

Humour Another important point is humour. Everyone loves to laugh. A funny person is usually popular and has many friends. Humour can help to make a good mood, and it can help someone who is unhappy. (Mercutio; Nurse)

Secret Plans Humans have always made secret plans to get what they want. They are an important part of human life. Sometimes they are good, like a surprise birthday party. Other times they are very bad, and cause much damage and pain. (Romeo and Juliet’s plans to be together)
