Long ‘e’ sound You can make long ‘ e ‘ words with these letters: ee ea ey ie and a few with m agic e But we are going to look at ‘ee’ and ‘ea’ words mostly.

The long ‘e’ sound is usually in the middle of the word: seed beach ief But with ‘ey’, the long ‘e’ sound is usually at the end.. m onkey But what about tree, free, bee, see or me? Hey – have you forgotten about tea, or sea?

So let’s see if you can spell some long ‘e’ words: t _ _ cher Is it ee? Is it ea? Maybe it’s ie? Or perhaps ey? s p _ _ d c r _ _ k i n g p l _ _ s e c h _ _ s e t r _ _ k _ _ d i s _ _ s e k n _ _

You just have to learn what the word looks like and remember it. There are no rules for long ‘e’!!!!
