Mock Drill on Industrial Chemical Disaster Mock exercise on Industrial off-site emergency due to chemical disaster was conducted in Visakhapatnam, simultaneously in two major accident hazard factories on 23rd August, 2008 successfully co-ordinating with the National Disaster Management Authority, New Delhi and State Disaster Management Commissionerate.

Industrial Emergency Response Centres(IERCs) While prevention of an Accident continues to be the Top priority to avoid an Industrial Disaster, as part of the Department’s initiative in Emergency Preparedness and response, IERCs are established IERCs presently established in Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad, Kakinada, Vijayawada and Kurnool An effective system for Chemical Crisis Management Expenditure shared mutually in the ratio 40:40:20 by the Central Govt, State Govt and local industries

IERCs To primarily deal with chemical emergencies To act as a link between the accident site and the expert group To extend expert assistance to emergency service providers like fire Services, Health, etc To aid in the emergency mitigation and provide support with the essential equipment

IERCs Round the clock facility with system for quick retrieval for information Provided with comprehensive database on chemicals and hazardous substances Provided with information on first aid and medical treatment Provided with information on precautions to be taken
