The Registry: Responsible for administration of Crown Mineral and Onshore Petroleum Rights Receives applications for mineral and petroleum rights and issues and registers licences or leases Maintains maps of current rights disposition Monitors exploration activities in Nova Scotia Provides information on past exploration and mining activities

The Mineral and Petroleum Registry Current Status: Over 880,000 Acres of land under Licence for mineral exploration Over 2 million acres under licence for onshore petroleum exploration

The Mineral and Petroleum Registry Exploration work must be done each year to maintain licence and must be submitted and approved before the licence is renewed In the last 8 years this work ranged between $3,743,728 and $15,035,159 per year
