Where do they live?

Some more facts about River Otters They can stay underwater for up to four minutes. They generally live along rivers, as their name implies, but they're also found near streams and lakes. As they dive, they close their ears and nostrils to keep water out. They hunt underwater, skillfully chasing fish, their main food. Otters even make their land travel look playful. They run a few steps and then slide on their bellies. Clearly, otters know how to have fun!

American Alligator

Some facts about American Alligator Scientific name - Alligator mississippiensis LIFE SPAN years They are reptiles Their habitat is freshwater and grassland They are carnivores American alligators live in the wild in the southeastern United States. You're most likely to spot them in Florida and Louisiana, where they live in rivers, lakes, ponds, swamps, bayous, and marshes.

Where do they live?

Some more facts about American Alligators An average male American alligator is three to five meters long. Half of its length is its massive, strong tail. An alligator can weigh as much as half a ton, but an average male weighs between 227 to 272 kilograms. Females are usually smaller than males. A mother alligator makes a nest on shore, where she lays her eggs. Then she guards her eggs until they're ready to hatch. At that point the babies start to make noises, and their mother hears her little ones' peeps as they break out of the eggs. She gently carries them—in her mouth—to the water nearby.
