What is E-commerce?  A universally accepted definition does not exist  Activity of exchanging goods and services with some kind of payment through electronic technology is called e-commerce.

Who fascinated E-commerce?  Internet has provided an opportunity to public & business sector to do business online.  New technology has also created new modifications in the e-commerce industry.

Types of e-commerce applications  Three main categories:  Business to consumer (B2C)  Business to business (B2B)  Consumer to consumer (C2C)  Other categories:  Mobile Commerce

B2C applications  Offer directly to the customer an interface of activity  Typical examples:  Online book store (e.g. amazon.com)  Online car purchasing (e.g. automall.com)  Multi products store (e.g olx.com.pk)  Also called online retail store

B2B applications  Transactions or commercial activities between two businesses over internet  Example: Purchase of raw material from a foreign company  The turnover is much greater than that of B2C applications.

C2C applications  Uses company or business as an intermediary.  Examples:  Ebay.com  Autotrader.com

Mobile commerce applications  Concern doing businesses by means of mobile wireless devices  Have a growing importance in the future of e-commerce applications  Has introduced completely new forms of electronic commerce  E.g. E-tickets

Advantages and Dis-advantages Advantages AAllow company to extend services to customers OOffer a wider choice and allow cheaper prices SSaves time. MMay give to the company a worldwide visibility OOnline shops are accessible 24h a day

Continue Dis-advantages  Data Security Problem  Product faults  Delay in performing a service  Loss of brand value due to unreliability of service or transmission of computer virus.

Conclusion  E-commerce is growing day by day  It can be improved by resolving problems  It will take time to expand all over the world….
