Hear and see your contacts with Office Communicator Make audio calls You and your team are ready to launch a new product in the marketplace. As the deadline approaches, you want a tool to help you stay in constant touch with your team. You’ve been using the IM features of Communicator 2007, but now you need to use its audio and video capabilities to see and hear your colleagues when the situation calls for it. This improves your everyday communication. In this lesson, you’ll learn about the audio capabilities of Communicator 2007, and learn how to make and receive audio calls by using Communicator 2007.

Hear and see your contacts with Office Communicator Audio capabilities You can use Communicator 2007 to make and receive several types of audio calls by using your computer or a traditional phone. To locate a contact to call, you can search for the contact’s name in the Search Results pane, or you can call a contact directly from your Contact List. You can also type a number in the Search Results pane to make a call. You can also use Communicator 2007 to initiate conference calls.

Hear and see your contacts with Office Communicator Audio capabilities You can receive audio calls from your contacts in several ways. You can take the audio call yourself or forward it to another number or to a voice mail number. You don’t need any special hardware or software; Communicator 2007 automatically detects your available audio devices, such as built-in or external microphones and speakers or even a USB or Bluetooth device. To choose alternate devices or adjust volume levels, run the Set Up Audio and Video Wizard before making a call.

For example, you can use the Contact List to check the availability of contacts and then call them. Calling by using a single click. Calling an optional number. Searching for a number and calling it. There are several ways to call a contact in Communicator:

Each contact in your Contact List has a default number that you can call quickly. If you have called the contact before, the default number will be the last number you used. If you have not called the contact before, the default is either a contact’s work number or a Communicator call number (computer-to-computer). A default number is determined in one of these ways:

To escalate an IM session to an audio call, click the Call button in the IM Conversation window of Communicator If you are already in an IM session with a group, you can escalate that session to an audio call in a similar way.

You take his call and finalize the launch date. When you receive an audio call from any of your contacts, a call alert invitation appears in the lower-right corner of your computer screen, as shown here.

To accept, click the contact’s name in the call alert invitation that appears. To ignore, click the Ignore Call button. To redirect a call, click the Redirect arrow, and then select an alternate number or voice mail.

Then, you can respond to the call with an instant message. 1.On the call alert invitation, click the Redirect arrow. 2.In the drop-down list, click Send an Instant Message.
