The Mayor’s Education Inquiry identified a knowledge gap around academic disciplines in London schools. The London Schools Excellence Fund is a £24m fund setup to raise education standards and support schools. The LSEF is focused on improving teacher subject knowledge and teacher subject pedagogy across a range of subject areas. There is growing evidence to indicate that this is the best way to increase pupil attainment. LONDON SCHOOLS EXCELLENCE FUND

Over 13,000 teachers are benefitting from the programme. Over 1,200 schools in London and half a million pupils are involved. Projects are evaluating their activity to see what initiatives have the most impact on teachers and pupils. London is a hotbed of talent - the Mayor is keen to nurture the next generation so the tech/digital sector can continue to thrive and be a key contributor to London’s economy. Digital literacy is a key educational requirement for future employees. The past five years has seen a huge boom in new offers for schools to support digital learning. It is a huge priority for London and the rest of the UK to ensure our young people are digitally skilled! WHY INVEST IN COMPUTING?
