LATIN AMERICA WEBQUEST CREATED FOR CLASS BY MRS. DAVIS

LATIN AMERICA WEBQUEST Congratulations! You have been awarded "Employee of the Month" at the Trips "R" Us Travel Agency for your hard work and ability to design luring travel package plans for our customers. As our top travel agent, you have been assigned to develop a vacation package for six customers who are all interested in visiting a Latin American country. Each of these people have very different interests and expectations for their trip, so you will need to take into account all of their needs when designing the trip. First things first though, you need to select a country that is approved by your manager.select a country

TASK LOCATE, INTERPRET AND ORGANIZE INFORMATION ABOUT THE HISTORY, CULTURE, PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND GOVERNMENT OF YOUR LATIN AMERICAN COUNTRY USING AT LEAST THREE DIFFERENT RESOURCES 9WEBSITE, BOOKS, OR VIDEOS, ETC).

TASK PRESENT INFORMATION IN TRAVEL BROCHURE OR POSTCARD THAT REPRESENTS YOUR COUNTRY.

TRAVEL BROCHURE Your job is to research a selected country and create a 6 column travel brochure (drawn or computer made) that can be used for each of the people below who want to book a vacation to your country. Your brochure should advertise and highlight major attractions that will appeal to each of them.

REQUIREMENTS: Find, evaluate, summarize, and paraphrase relevant information. Create a colorful, informative and dazzling brochure that includes the following: A title or catchy phrase on the first page that will attract viewers. Name and location of the country. An itinerary for a 5-7 day trip to your Latin American country that appeals to all 6 tourists who have booked this trip. At least 4 pictures-graphics. An advertisement for your travel agency, Trips "R" Us. Correct spelling, punctuation, capitals, sentences, and grammar. Create a presentation to promote this trip to future travelers. Be creative!

MORE REQUIREMENTS: You must include a brief history of your country. You must include information that meets the needs of each tourist: the food, culture (language, music, customs and celebrations), sports & recreational activities, major landmarks, the government, geography & landforms and natural resources.

RESOURCES: There are many good sites on the Internet to help you gather the information that you need. (Here’s one to start: Do not just limit yourself to the Internet though, use library resources and books as well. Gather enough information to create an appealing brochure that not only meets the needs of your 6 current customers, but can also be used for future customers as well. Show them why Trips "R" Us is an award winning company!

BROCHURE TIPS: Make your brochure eye catching as well as informative. Keep information user friendly. Create a desire to come and explore the many facets of your country. Your brochure should include appropriate pictures or graphics to enhance your presentation. Final print copy should be in your own creative words not those that you borrowed!

SENATOR TAYLOR: Senator Taylor wants to get a feel for the economic stability of this country. He is interested in possibly creating a partnership with the United States, but has to learn about the government structure to proceed. He is very interested in traveling to government buildings to learn as much as he can on this trip.

Mr. Rei Mr. Rei loves the outdoors and wants to be adventurous on this trip by traveling to areas that would be fun to hike, climb, swim, fish, etc. He would love to learn about land features that are unique to the country he visits.

MR. JONES: Mr. Jones loves history and wants to learn all about the historical past of the country he visits. He wants to visit museums and other sites that have been significant in the development of the country.

MR. SMITH: Mr. Smith is a gourmet chef and is extremely interested in the cuisine of the country. He wants to learn about the customs and traditions of food that contribute to the culture of the country.

MS. COLLEGE: Ms. College decided to spend her spring break in Latin America. She is interested in hanging out with those that are native to the country so that she can learn about the things they do for fun. She wants to participate in as many recreational and entertaining venues as possible.

GRANDMA INTERN: Grandma Intern is considering coming to this country to work for a year or two and is interested in learning about the various job opportunities that are available, including the major industries. She wants to learn about the economy and what kinds of things they import and export to other countries.

POSTCARD (INSTEAD OF BROCHURE): (SEE ATTACHMENT) RUBRIC AND SELF ASSESSMENT: (SEE ATTACHMENTS)

REFLECTIONS: CHOOSE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING TO ANSWER: BASED ON WHAT YOU HAVE LEARNED, WOULD YOU VISIT YOUR COUNTRY? WHY OR WHY NOT? WHAT INFORMATION PRESENTED PIQUED YOUR CURIOSITY AND POSSIBLY A DESIRE TO VISIT YOUR COUNTRY?
