 In 1974 the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission had to recall 80,000 of its own lapel buttons promoting "toy safety", because the buttons had sharp edges, used lead paint, and had small clips that could be broken off and subsequently swallowed

 To allude to some other work or idea that is generally well known.  Most make references to the Bible or Shakespeare because it is the most widely read in our culture  EXAMPLE:  “I was surprised his nose was not growing like Pinocchio’s.”  This refers to the story of Pinocchio, where his nose grew whenever he told a lie.

 Allusion of the title “Lamb to the Slaughter”  What is it referring to?  What is the meaning?  What does it tell you about the story/why would an author title his story that?  VOCAB QUIZ #2:  same format, only the 6 new words, 12 points!!!!

 Lambs are generally seen as innocent sacrifices, the title appropriate  Mary Maloney justified in her actions  If Mary wanted the divorce and Patrick killed her, you would feel different about the story  All life equal?  How does society’s view of women affect how both men and women interact with one another?
