Essentialism  Math class ( Teacher focus on the speed and accuracy of getting an answer for factoring equations)  Teacher is the academic and moral role model  Students become culturally literature individuals  Educational leaders: William Bagley, E.D. Hirsch, Jr., William Bennett ProsCons Students are shown how act morally and academically Does not cover every set of skill Students won’t follow bad role leaders Only focuses on certain skills

Perennialism  Finding the hidden meaning in a Shakespeare play  Teacher: scholarly role model; helps students find the truth themselves  Students: increasing their intellectual powers and appreciate learning  Educational leader: Robert Hutchins, Mortimer Adler ProsCons Helps students learning old lessons from Great Books The hidden lesson won’t be easy to find Students grow wiser See it as lessons that don’t apply to modern times

Progressivism  Students do a Science fair project (Each has to be unique)  Teacher: Guide students through the learning activities  Student: To become intelligent problem solvers, who are socially aware  ED leaders: John Dewey, Nel Noddings ProsCons Helps students explore their creativity Students will get lost in progress Students learn from experience May get overwhelmed in experiences

My Own Philosophy(Existentialism)  It helps students devolve at their own pace (Everyone is different)  Students find it easier to interact in a classroom using their medium  They learn to take personal responsibility; to be self-confident
