Center for Bioterrorism and All-hazards Preparedness (CBAP) at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine (NSU-COM) A regional resource for the provision of medical and health professions education focused on: ● Bioterrorism and all- hazards preparedness and response ● Development of training programs for first responders A regional resource for the provision of medical and health professions education focused on: ● Bioterrorism and all- hazards preparedness and response ● Development of training programs for first responders

Began as task force shortly after 9/11, becoming a center in Interdisciplinary bioterrorism and all-hazards preparedness curriculum is provided for 5,400 health professional students and continuing education for 37,000 health care professionals and health care workers in South Florida. Goal: to train practicing health professionals in a variety of health care disciplines who are located throughout South Florida. Partners with neighboring Broward Community College (BCC) with a subcontract to provide training to health workers who require 2 years or less to earn their degrees. Continuing Education Grant

Goal: To develop and implement curricula to prepare health professional students in a variety of disciplines to work as a coordinated team in all- hazards events. Curriculum Development Grant

CBAP offers a series of courses on emergency preparedness topics for health care professionals who have a medical and/or scientific background as well as for health care workers whose training may be non-scientific. The courses are free and will be available in several formats starting in July 2006: web-based, booklet, CD, speaker program, English and Spanish. To Accomplish These Goals

COSCE (Casualty Objective Structured Clinical Examination) development/implementation
