The mysteries of the Maya civilization Made by Kuznetsov Alexey School №4, 10 “A” Teacher Udina Tamara Valentinovna

What do we know about the Maya? What were they famous for? Why did they disappear? What interesting things did they leave to us?

History Discoveries of Maya occupation have been dated to 2600 BC History Discoveries of Maya occupation have been dated to 2600 BC. Many Maya cities reached their highest state of development during the Classic period (250 to 900 AD).

Writing system It is the only writing system of the Pre-Columbian New World which is known to represent the spoken language of its community.

Mayan technology The Mayans used a number of “modern” innovations and tools in the decorative arts. They built complicated looms for weaving cloth and devised glittery paints made from mica. The Mayans designed works of art from flint, bone and shell.
