Recipe for Scouse

We started planning and writing down our ideas for our heritage project, we came up with the idea to make a film.

We had to Interview 5 different people to see who we wanted as our project officer, we decided on Rodney.

We had different film makers come for meetings so we could choose who we wanted to work with, we choose First Take.

We invited other young people to join our group to help make the film, this is us working together.

For part of our research we had a look around the Walker Art Gallery. After that we drew one of the paintings that was of the river Mersey

We researched different areas for our film we looked at people, places, events & trends/changes

We linked up each ingredient of Scouse to a part in our film, we picked beetroot for football because when you mix red and blue they make purple

When we went to the Maritime Museum we had a look at the types of items that you might have found on the Titanic, we looked at old headphones, jewellery and old smelly soap.

We practiced our filming and acting techniques by pretending to be the statues in the Walker Art Gallery

We visited the Museum of Liverpool so we could find out more about Liverpool’s looooong history

Before we could go out filming we first needed to learn how to use the camera, Nicola gave us a crash course in camera techniques

We met Lynn from First Take who helped us to write our script, we talked about what would happen with each of the ingredients

We interviewed people on the street of Liverpool, asking them to tell us what they think about the city

Paula from First Take came to give us all some acting tips, this is us practicing our roles for the Edward Rushton Scene

Our Scouse chef visited Sandfield Park schools kitchen to film the making of the Scouse. He had all the ingredients ready to go.

We used a green screen so we could pretend that we were the giants that came to Liverpool, in our film a giant sits down on top of the museum

We visited the Museum of Liverpool, we filmed our section on culture. Talking about all the museums, galleries and theatres in Liverpool

We went to Everton’s training ground to interview Leighton Baines, we asked him lots of questions about the team and Liverpool

We visited Stanley Park to film our football supporters

We met up with Paula to do some filming on a ship called the Zebu

We used stop motion animation to create all the animations in our film, we took lots of photos and moved our ingredients around each time to spell out Recipe for Scouse

We took it in turns to edit different parts of the film, we also added sound effects

We would like to say thank you to everyone that made the film possible We hope you enjoy the film We will have two screenings of the film, the second screening will have Audio Description, there is a hearing loop in the theatre and the film has subtitles
