The information contained herein is subject to change without notice. 2 Ensure geographical redundancy An application owner may want to:  Deploy an application on a load balanced J2EE cluster, which is deployed on different virtual machines.  Ensure that the virtual machines are not all hosted on the same ESX server or in the same physical location.  Receive alerts when configuration changes cause a single point of failure (no geographical redundancy).

UCMDB Run Universal Discovery 1 Create a topology policy 7 Create an integration point and run jobs to populate the CMDB with data. 2 Populate the CMDB with data 2 Verify that all relevant CIs have been discovered and that an accurate picture of the IT infrastructure (in this case, storage, network, software, virtualization, and so on) is displayed. 3 Create a pattern- based model, where the base query consists of location CIs for each relevant CI type. 4 Define layers and classifications 8 Create an enrichment rule that assigns each node to the relevant node’s location, according to its IP address. 5 In the Modeling Studio, create a TQL query (Cluster > Node), where the CalculatedLocation attribute is identical for a least two nodes in the same cluster. 6 Verify data quality 3 Create a topology policy to specify that only a single load- balanced J2EE cluster is deployed on a VM on an ESX server. 7 Create a pattern- based model 4 Create an enrichment rule 5 Assign the topology policy to a view 9 Define notifications 10 Configuration Manager Define layers and classifications for the newly discovered data. 8 Assign the topology policy that you created to a view. 9 Set up notifications to be received about unwanted changes. 10 Create a TQL query 6
